A strip of Plastigage is placed on the bearing, the crankshaft and bearing are then assembled and torqued up, this compresses the Plastigage, By using the gauge that comes with the Plastigage strip you measure the width of compressed Plastigage and calculates the clearance of the bearing between 0.025 and 0.175mm, each pack contains 10 strips.
